Because He Lives!

I often hear many stories throughout my days, but there was one recently in particular that had me beginning to think. Seeing that Easter has just occurred I wanted to write my thoughts down of the specific scenario.

Without re-telling the whole story a quick synopsis would be this: A fellow believer was discussing the extraordinary bad things that have happened and most likely will continue to happen in their life. The questions that were arising were of trying to discover the worth, purpose, and meaning in everything that is happening and everything that will continue to happen.

There was a problem that I was having for this person. It was the fact that I had no clue at all (or anything in desired specifics), to help answer these personal questions. The others around were offering up their own suggestions in which I could see that nothing was helping ease whatever was going on within the persons mind and heart. How was I to know the purpose to these? How was I to offer answers to sorts of things in which in my own life I often don’t have answers to either?

Something hit me which I found profound in that moment. It came from an old song that I recently just listened to since Easter has come upon us. The song is titled “Because He Lives” by the Gaither Vocal Band. Here are the lyrics to the chorus:

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living
Just because He lives

It clicked with me for a moment in this conversation while the others were giving their two cents. Maybe, just maybe, though this person was looking for answers to life circumstances, that what this person really needs is a way in which answers may not be needed. I thought of the last line, that life is worth the living, just because He lives. Think about the Theology behind such a statement! If the world crashes down on you and your life is in complete upheaval, and say for a moment that events don’t have any purpose within your life (which I fully believe they do), that no matter what, life is still worth the living solely because He lives. We as Christians hear all the time questions pertaining to God being good and events that strike us. How could God allow this to happen? If God loved you why are these things taking place? In reality, though life may destroy us, life is still worth the living because He lives!

I don’t know if this helped the person, but it seemed to cause a pause in order to think. So I ask those reading to pause and think for a second as well. How many times do we sit there and wonder? How often do we look up and desire or even demand answers to life’s circumstances? How many times do bearing things in life seem to just weigh us down? We don’t have to sit there and dwell in the how and why! Even if things unravel and crumble in our lives, life is worth the living! If all hell breaks loose and everyone leaves you, life is worth the living! If you’re in school and you think you’re no one or friends have battered you and left, life is worth the living! When your health has failed or your family is suffering and it’s causing you pain and strife, life is worth the living!

Why? Because He lives, you also shall. Life is always and still worth the living no matter what may happen, just because He lives.
